Ikaria is one of the world’s five Blue Zones — regions where people live significantly longer and healthier lives. But what makes the Ikarian way so unique and healing?
Here are a few truths I have felt deeply while hosting my Holistic Face Yoga retreats on this magical island:
- Time flows differently here. There’s no rush. People live with time, not against it.
- Daily movement is natural. Walking up hills, gardening, swimming. Movement isn’t scheduled — it’s part of living.
- Connection matters. Meals are shared. Conversations are deep. Community is medicine.
- Rest is sacred. Naps are normal. So is joy. Dancing under the stars, staying up late because life feels good.
- Nature is your healer. Clean air, crystal waters, wild herbs, and food grown with love.
